Cusco Valley Trekking (6 hours)
Places We Will Visit
San Blas:
We begin our journey in the iconic neighborhood of San Blas, known as Cusco’s artistic heart. Its cobbled streets, artisan workshops, and vibrant cultural life immerse us in the city’s living soul. From the main square, we enjoy panoramic views of the historic center while the guide introduces us to the Inca-Colonial history and the influence of local artists.
Qhapaq Ñan:
This ancient urban section of the Inca Trail, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, connects us directly with the vast road network that united the regions of the Inca Empire. We walk along original paths surrounded by nature and pre-Hispanic architecture, discovering the strategic, political, and spiritual importance of this ancient network.
K’usilluchayoq:
One of Cusco’s best-kept secrets. This ceremonial site features stone carvings of monkeys—symbols associated with play, movement, and spiritual connection. It offers a peaceful, mysterious atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to pause and feel the ancestral energy of the Apus (sacred mountains).
Temple of the Moon & Inkilltambo:
We continue along a natural trail to the Temple of the Moon, a rock formation used for fertility ceremonies and worship of the moon and the feminine principle in Andean spirituality. From there, we walk to Inkilltambo, an archaeological complex with terraces, canals, and ceremonial spaces where the Incas honored water, earth, and life itself.
Choquequirao – Rumiwasi:
This area—unrelated to the larger Choquequirao citadel in Apurímac—hosts smaller but meaningful structures tied to the Inca agricultural system. Rumiwasi, meaning “house of stone,” reflects the simple and functional architecture used for farming life. A perfect chance to understand the rural, everyday side of Inca society.
Cóndor Apuchin – San Sebastián:
We end our experience at one of Cusco’s sacred viewpoints. The Cóndor Apuchin symbolizes the connection between the earthly and spiritual worlds. From here, we take in breathtaking views of the Cusco Valley, reflect on our journey, and offer gratitude for the energy received. A symbolic and emotional closure to a meaningful hike.
